HGH's vision is to facilitate the ongoing discovery of what it means to be a human being in the highest sense - and how to be that. I invite you to take the journey in your own heart and life into what many great teachers have referred to as "the more that is possible". To me, this means becoming what we want for the world - expressing our values and beliefs, our dreams and hopes in our daily interactions. If we do this, then together we can create a more peaceful and loving world.
Higher Ground for Humanity I believe that the blessings of my life are not only for my own benefit, but are for the benefit of humanity. It was from this personal philosophy that I founded Higher Ground for Humanity with my daughter, Jewel, and son, Shane, in 1998. The mission of Higher Ground for Humanity is to promote human excellence by pioneering what it means to be a human being in the highest sense, inspiring new possibilities for humanity. Its aim was to inspire positive change by promoting both individual action and global community.

The ClearWater Project
The primer program of HGH was The ClearWater Project, an environmental focus I conceived of initially to help to bring relief to the millions of people, both in this country and world-wide, who suffer from lack of water and diseases caused by contaminated water. In 1999, with the help of Jewel and my son Shane, and the talented directorship of Sean Ebnet, we launched The ClearWater Project which quickly became a ground-breaking educational tool as well as one that provided solutions to water problems around the world, primarily in very impoverished areas. Within just five years we had developed criteria, programs, and partnerships that allowed us to function successfully on 4 continents, and in 18 countries, providing safe drinking water to thousand of individuals.
This year, 2007, I turned the operation of The ClearWater Project over to Jewel and Shane. Formerly only a project of HGH, it has now been established as a separate non-profit, using the opportunity to also change its name to Project CleanWater to distinguish itself from similarly named non-profits.
